We live in a world in which resources are becoming scarcer by the day. And in which the population is growing - by 2050 it is expected to be over 10 billion. At the same time, we throw away 1.3 billion tons of food every year, a third of the world's total production. This means that 30% of the world's total agricultural land is used to produce food that is thrown away. At 45%, fruit is particularly affected by this.

Animal leather part of the problem

In addition to food waste, the production of animal leather is also a serious environmental problem. The impact is greatest in poorer and less developed regions of the world. Every year, more than one billion animals are slaughtered specifically so that the hides can be used for leather goods. The cleaning process to which the hides are subjected generates around 650 million kilos of^CO2 worldwide. The dyeing of the hides is another sad chapter. The use of chemicals, water pollution and the associated damage to flora and fauna, a sad chapter.

Loss of biodiversity and global warming
